The Room to Read (RtR) Library program, in association with local communities, has established libraries and computer labs, created local language children’s literature, constructed schools and provided educational opportunities for girls and boys in numerous countries in Asia and Africa. The objective of RtR is to contribute to a generation of students that is eager to read and to influence attitudes and motivations about reading behavior. The focus of the evaluation was on assessing the impact and success factors of the program on stimulating the development of a culture of reading in children, so as to inform program design and implementation so RtR could better capitalize on successes and better target remaining gaps in implementation.
